Excellence in Environmental Education Guidelines for Learning (Pre K-12) (revised 2004) defines what people should know and be able to do in order to have a basic grounding in the environment and environmental issues. The guidelines set expectations for performance and achievement in fourth, eighth, and twelfth grades. They are linked to national standards set by professional education organizations of several academic disciplines. These guidelines are one in a set of national guidelines for environmental education developed by the North American Association for Environmental Education.
