The National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education sets the standards for high quality environmental education. By providing guidelines for student learning, written materials, nonformal programs, and professional development, the Project for Excellence promotes the development of the balanced, scientifically accurate, and comprehensive programs and delivery methods needed to support student learning and increase environmental literacy.
Developed by the North American Association for Environmental Education with input from thousands of educators, administrators, and curriculum specialists across the country, the guidelines represent a broad consensus on what constitutes high quality environmental education.
National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education publications include:
* Environmental Education Materials: Guidelines for Excellence
* Excellence in Environmental Education—Guidelines for Learning (PreK-12)
* Guidelines for the Preparation and Professional Development of Environmental Educators
* Nonformal Environmental Education Programs: Guidelines for Excellence
